Prof. GEORGE CARDONA from the University of Pennsylvania, U S A, inaugurated the two day National Seminar in S S V College, Perumbavoor. In his Inaugural Address Prof.Cardona stressed on the importance of teaching Sanskrit from the grass root level. He reiterated that Sanskrit is still a living language. He also mentioned about the numerous overseas scholars who have been and are still striving to enhance the study of Sanskrit. He insisted that Sanskrit should be taught in the traditional way and not by translation in to other languages for the beauty of it is lost in doing so. The tradition of this language should be maintained and preserved. Sanskrit should be taught as a universal subject.
The meeting was presided over by Principal Prof. A K Narayanan Nampoothiry. Dr. K P Parvathy made the welcome speech. Prof. P C Muraleemadhavan of S S University Kalady honored the chief guest. S S Trust Chairman Adv. M V S Nampoothiry and Manager Sri.C V K Nampoothiry felicitated the function. Prof. C V Sankaran made the vote of thanks.
